
And just like recipes, cake decorating trends change, too. Some I love, and some I can't quite get on board with, but I'll always prefer classic, pretty and simple techniques and piping over some of the more modern trends.
This pretty cake was our dessert a few days after Valentine's Day. It may look demure and innocent, but underneath the blushing vanilla bean buttercream crowned with roses is a dark chocolate cake with a gooey caramel pecan filling. Red sugar pearls dot the buttercream, and the design would be just as perfect for any occasion as it was for Valentine's Day.

DeleteI need to practice my frosting skills because every time I attempt to make my cakes look as pretty as yours, I fail and they look like abstract art. haha!
