After more than two months of sewing like mad to get my Etsy shop up and running, I'm taking a little break to catch up on other projects. I never stop baking, or dreaming of what I want to bake, but not everything I make ends up on this blog, either because I'm not satisfied with the recipe, or I feel uninspired by the photos I take, or I simply don't have time to put together the post. The thing that makes me the most frustrated, though, is when I love the photos, but the recipe was just not quite right, which is what happened with this lemon pie...
I'm not sure why it is, but I just can't seem to make a lemon pie that I think is perfect. I've made a lot of good lemon pies and tarts, but I hold myself to a high standard of what I dream to be the perfect filling. That said, though, this pie was just too pretty not to share, so imperfect filling or not, it's worthy of showing off a little.
After I finished my sewing, I invited some friends and their daughters over to my house to model my aprons, so I could photograph them for the product listings. We had so much fun! With their help, I was able to get much more interesting photos of the aprons, that really showed their style.
For lunch, I made hot sandwiches, a few different salads, lemonade iced tea, brownies, and these cupcakes. The cupcakes are chocolate cupcakes I made from scratch, with a swirl of cream cheese buttercream, and cherry pie filling, and I thought they turned out so pretty, not to mention yummy.
The next day, we slept in as late as our baby would let us (which isn't very late), and had a simple breakfast of cream of wheat with milk and raspberries. Weekend breakfasts with my husband are my favorite times of the week. I love when we're all home together.
