Christmas Baby

Christmas has always been my favorite holiday.  I love the lights and sparkle, the glittery decorations, the cookies, the romance in the air, eggnog, cozy nights at home with Hallmark movies and popcorn, Christmas music, pretty wrapped packages, warm crackling fires, family time, baking, snow... I love it all.  This is my baby's first Christmas, and even though he won't remember it, I want to make everything so special.

Phoenix and I spend a lot of cozy hours together while my husband is at work, much of that being my trying to get him to sleep for his naps and keep him sleeping.  He's been a good sleeper at night, but naps are a different story.  So I set myself up with my laptop, phone, books, hot tea and water, and settle in to snuggle with him while he sleeps...
or he'll wake up cranky that he didn't sleep for long enough.  He seems to sense when I try to sneak away to do the dishes, or take a shower, or tidy up the living room, and wakes up crying when I'm not next to him, so I just about don't try anymore, as it seems to be more important right now to have a well-rested, happy baby than to try to get my own things done.  It's hard to plan around his naps and eating schedule to be able to run many errands during the week, other than what's absolutely necessary, so we don't go many places yet.  I know all of this will get easier.

In between his naps, we play and talk and sing, look at the lights on the Christmas tree, and I've started to read to him a little bit, too.  And sometimes, we set up little photo shoots.  I love having a new subject to practice on, and when the subject is my adorable baby, well, it's hard not to take pictures of him every day, especially when he lights up the room with his cute little smile.  He seems to like it, too.

I've set up a series of Christmas photo shoots over the past week, and here are a few of my favorites...

    1. Haha, he wiggles so much that i have to take so many photos just to get a few that aren't blurry!

So, I found a tutorial online a few years ago to learn how to enlarge the size of my blog photos, but it looks like that site is gone now. In Blogger, it's very simple, though. After you upload your photos to a blog post, click on the HTML tab for the post so you can edit the code for each photo. Find the height text and delete it, for example: height="320" , then delete the width text too. Now look for the letter s and a number. Towards the beginning of the code, it is probably s1600. Leave that one alone. Find the next one, which in mine says s320. The s320 is the one you'll change. For my vertical photos, I change it to s1200, and for my horizontal photos, I change it to s800, and I find that those sizes perfectly fill the width of my post template, but you can try other numbers to see what fits yours. You'll have to edit the code for every photo like this. Good luck! If my explanation doesn't make sense, send me an email and I'll send you some screen shots. :)
