It doesn't feel like November today. After a wine-tasting party at a friend's house and an extra hour of sleep last night, I woke up to a bright blue sky and a warm breeze rustling the crackling brown leaves scattered over the ground. The sun felt so nice on my bare arms when I went shopping for this week's groceries.
I didn't bake a single thing this weekend - unusual for me - but I felt like I needed a break. Even as I type this, though, my mind is wandering to recipes I want to test, and I'm imagining the scent of vanilla pound cake filling the kitchen.
Not every meal we make deserves to be documented, but sometimes I take photos of our food just to practice, even if I don't have a story to share about the recipe or anything very revelatory to say.
So today's post is just a compilation of some of those photos... a loaf of buttermilk herb bread, seafood stew, sausage, sauerkraut and pretzels for Oktoberfest night and homemade wonton soup.
